Streaming to an Xbox 360

You can stream music, pictures, and video from your Windows Home Server to your Xbox 360. You do not need to download additional software. Use the following steps to connect your Xbox 360.


  • Step 1: Launch the Windows Home Server Console
    • From your client PC, launch the Windows Home Server Console.
    • Select Start, Windows Home Server Console.


  • Step 2: Turn on Media Library Sharing.
    • Click the Settings button on the Windows Home Server Console. In the Windows Home Server Settings window, click the Media Sharing tab.
    • You can stream digital media from the Music, Photos, and Videos shared folders on your home server. Click On for each shared folder that you want to stream from.
    • Click OK.
    • Close the Windows Home Server Console.


  • Step 3: Configure your Xbox 360 console.
    • In the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard, select Music, Pictures , or Videos .
    • Select your Server. The detected computers on your network are listed by name.
    • If a media source is already selected, press X to select a different media source.
    • Select an item to play it.
