I've decided to make my internal Notification Generator test tool available for use by others in the community. This tool has been very helpful for generating notifications and testing the Remote Notification Add-In. As always, I appreciate any bug reports, feedback, or even hearing if this is useful to anyone else.

Here's the readme:

WHAT IS NOTIFICATION GENERATOR
==============================
Notification Generator is a tool for use with the Microsoft Windows Home
Server operating system. It is designed to facilitate the easy generation
of WHS notifications, mainly for test purposes. It also provides a view of
all WHS notifications, as well as the DiskInfo information.

Notification Generator was developed as a tool to test the Remote
Notification Add-In for WHS.

Notification Generator manages Notifications in the same manner as those
created by WHS. Notifications can be created, updated, or removed.

INSTALLATION
============
Unzip the file, and place Notification Generator.exe in the
C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\ directory. It depends on the Interop
dll and thus must be run from the WHS directory.

USAGE
=====
Notification Generator is very easy to use. In the simplest case, simply
click the "Generate Random Data" button to populate the required fields, and
click "Add Notification". The newly created notification will show up in the
"Active Notifications" section, and the WHS console should immediately
register and display new notification.

Select the notification, and click "Remove Selected" to clear the notification.
Click "Remove All" to clear all created notifications. Click "Load Selected"
to load an Active notification and change it's properties.

All Active Notifications created by Notification Generator will be cleared
upon exiting the application.

PhysicalDiskInfo and all WHS Notifications can be viewed on the additional
tabs in the GUI.

HISTORY
=======
1.0.1.8 - 9/19/2007
Fixed bug with handling of help links, and minor layout issues.

1.0.1.7 - 9/19/2007
Auto-fit WHSNotifications and PhysicalDiskInfo tabs, to see all columns when
app is maximized.

1.0.1.5 - 9/14/2007
Added tabs to show all WHS Notifications, and PhysicalDisk info

1.0.1.4 - 9/12/2007
Original release

FEEDBACK
========
Please provide all feedback either on the MediaSmartServer.net forums, the
Microsoft Windows Home Server forums, or via email available at the
http://www.mediasmartserver.net main web page.

I installed this but can't execute it. I get an error about not being able to locate it or not having persmission to run it. (remoted in as administrator) If I place it on the desktop it appears to run but I'm sure it can't find the .dlls that are required.

The application was not locked when viewed. However the .zip file was. I unlocked the .zip and then extracted it. It works now, kinda odd

I downloaded and copied the ZIP file onto my WHS desktop where I extracted the files into a folder. When I run the program I get this error message:

I have some development experience, working on our first WHS add-in for the last couple of months. Please let me know if you need me to run any test or give you more data to troubleshoot.

Yeah he didn't read the README, you gotta run it from the Windows Home Server directory as it depends on the Interop dll. ;)
