Hi - my question has probably been asked many times before, so sorry if I repeat.

My WHS v1 - HP MediaSmart EX475 - needs to be restored, but I am not able to complete the restore process halts "...can not be run on this OS".
I have tried both Windows 10 x64 PCs and a Windows 7 x64 PC, with all kinds of compatibility settings and administrator privileges.

Is it really not possible to restore this server without a 32 bit, really old Windows version?
Can it be done from a Virtual Machine running under Windows 10 Pro x64?

Any other way...? :-)

Did anyone try booting Windows XP from Hirens Boot CD and run Server recovery from there? Will that work?

Windows xp 32 is probably the best success rate.
I have windows 10 64 but one box I am still on win10 32. And it works.
So possibly you need a dual boot.
Or if you try Hirens Boot CD you need to have a drive that you can insert the recovery cd in after boot.

I have kept an old avertec laptop that could not be upgraded to win 7 as a server re-loader. It has winxp 32 bit I believe.
I have copied the contents of the cds for recovery to the desktop, so it is always ready to go. Just have to disable the wireless nic.
Good Luck
I have no win 10 pc's in the house.
