I am thinking about getting my wife an iMac for Christmas.
My home network currently has 5 PC's and an EX495.
I know that when I got the EX495 in 2010 it allowed for Mac clients, but does it still work with the new Mac OS that has come out since I got the EX495?

Also, any other tips for adding a Mac client that I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Choir

I bought a 13" MacBook a couple months ago. It's a sweet little machine, and I'm quite happy with it. It's the first Mac I've ever owned, even though there are iPhones, an iPod and an iPad in the house.

I was able to install the Connector software on the Mac, running OS X Mountain Lion, and it lets me remote control the Dashboard, but it doesn't seem to do backups. The Mac shows up in the Server 2012 Essentials dashboard but I can't configure backup on it. So to tell you the truth, I'm not sure what's the point of the Connector software if I can't actually back up the machine!

In addition to 2012 Essentials, I subscribe to the cloud-based backup provider CrashPlan. I signed up for their 10 PC family plan and I think it's great, plus it supports Mac clients as well as Windows (and Linux). I look at CrashPlan as an insurance policy--if something really bad, like a lightning strike or fire, happened, at least I'd have a redundant copy of my data so it wouldn't be a total loss.

For remote desktop, I use the Jump desktop client. I also loaded the Mac office apps Pages, Keynote and Numbers, as well as the Microsoft Office 2011 Mac suite, along with a whole host of other apps. I'm happy with it.

Matt

It's been a couple of months, but I just downloaded and ran it. I don't recall it needing too much prodding.

Not sure what benefit it offers me, other than being able to pull up the Dashboard. I can't back up over the Connector, but since I have CrashPlan cloud backup, the Mac is protected. Much of the content on the Mac is also in my Dropbox or protected by my iTunes iCloud account, so even if it died I wouldn't lose anything.

Where did you manage to download the MAC connector from, I've got the original CD that came with my EX490 but that doesn't work, so was trying to find a download site for the latest version, thanks in advance.

I uploaded the last version of the Mac connector to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11644 It does not work with 10.7 or 10.8.

Thanks Cliff - found the note about it not working with 10.8.x afterwards

Sorry I've done so much looking up over the last 48 hours I've got myself a little confused, so one quick question: does the WHS2011 MAC connector work with 10.8.x or is it both the WHS v1 and 2011 ones that don't?
