Recently switched from an EX470 to a datavault 310. Never had problems with the 470, but now after about 1 month with the Datavault I have problems with my two Macbook Airs and the backups. I have deleted the MAC folder several times and started from scratch, but after a few days, I get errors on both computers saying the disk has failed. Running Mac version 10.6.8. I did see some previous posts online about initial problems with 10.6.8, but these problems started well after that update.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you that I had stability issues with the Time Machine sparsebundle and the MSS under 10.6.6 and 10.6.7 (the latter is what I am presently running) so it is not 10.6.8 that is the cause of your difficulties.

I'm running 10.6.8 now and have had no issues with using a sparsebundle in my EX495 to serve as the TimeMachine for my MBP. My disk is not an internal one though, it is in a PM box connected by eSATA. I'm running WHS 2011 now but ran TM fine in WHS v1 too.

So, I can't help with your problem but I can assure you that it can be done so it must be some sort of a configuration issue on your system.
