I cant find the 3.0 mediasmart server disc ANYWHERE. I've searched ebay and I've searched forums looking for download links, but i'm SOL I guess. Does anyone have it, or know a way I can get it somehow? Thanks.

It might help to state what server series you want it for, as they are all different?

Have you tried HP?

Yes I've searched all over the hp website, and they discontinued selling the product. I have an ex475, and was hoping maybe someone had the files or a link to download them...

Microsoft doesn't allow the download of the Server Recovery images due to licensing restrictions.

You've really only got two options contact HP, and if HP will not help (they will only send one replacement set of disk per server over it's life) or turn to piracy. That will get you band on most sites....

I contacted HP directly yesterday 3/1/2011. The 3.0 disc are no longer available and was a limited time offer.

:-# Have you Googled it? :-#

The only reason I say is because I just don't understand why HP did this.
It's bad enough that they don't sell parts, but to discontinue an upgrade, I just don't get that. Sometimes it seems like the OEM's (not just HP) go out of there way to piss people off. I'll shutup now :-$

Sadly a well known fact that these upgrade disks are no longer available from HP - they did announce that it was time for "last drinks" a few months back

My suggestion would be to post on the key WHS enthusiast sites and offer to BUY the disks for the EX47x series MSS 3.0 upgrade

As others have said no site is going to condone piracy but most have a Buy/Sell thread in their forums

I got the same problem - had to mothball my computers and network a couple of years ago because I went to work abroad, now I'm back in the UK and can't get the upgrade anywhere. If someone would like to sell me their discs or point me to a download I will gladly pay for it. Bloody HP, this is just plain stupid.

The 3.0 Disks for the EX47x and EX48x sometimes show up on eBay. I have also seen in the past where those selling their Servers were also including the upgrade with them.

The disks:
How many types of disks are there? Will the 470's work on which other systems? Or will they work on all?

Each hardware platform needs it's own disks (EX47x, EX48x, EX49x), they are not interchangeable due to licensing in the BIOS and drivers/hardware.

How many discs are there for the EX470?
Only one DVD or are there more?

I found it after massive search, but want to know if its complete.
From the warning on HP's support page it seems to be two.
One PC recovery and a Server recovery.

From HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02062871&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&os=1005&product=3548164

Issue
If you insert the PC Restore Disc into your computer, a Server Recovery screen displays. If you insert the Server Recovery disc into your server drive, a message displays that recovery will replace all data on your system.
Solution
Please review the following options to upgrade your server or recover your PC from an existing backup:

To upgrade your server, insert the DVD labeled PC Restore Disc , then follow the on-screen instructions.
Should it be necessary to ever recover your PC, insert the CD labeled Server Recovery Disc , then follow the on-screen instructions.

Cause
HP recently detected a cosmetic error on the upgrade discs that shipped. You have all the software you need to successfully upgrade your server; however, the CD/DVDs were mislabeled. The PC Client Installation disc is unaffected, and works as expected. This issue affects part number 589796-ZH1.

There are 3 disks that shipped with the EX470 for the 3.0 Upgrade. The disks are as follows:

(1) Server Recovery - DVD
(2) PC Recovery - CD
(3) Client Software - CD

The cosmetic issue your reporting was a mislabled disks when the 3.0 upgrade disks were first shipped.
