Hi,

I have a EX-485 that's been running fine for a long time. I noticed it wasn't responding this evening and rebooted it. Since then, it is extremely sluggish. HpmssService.exe seems to be taking up all the processing and CPU usage is constantly above 90% and several times at 100%. Everything is super slow. I am running 3.3.1.35433. It says there are no updates available.

I have only 1 add in - Lightsout installed. Twonky is disabled.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I figured out what the problem was so I thought I would post the solution for others who may run into it.

The problem was the HP media collector which found a bunch of RAW images I had just downloaded on to my mac and started trying to copy them down hanging the machine. Once I disabled it, things were better.

Your issue sounded like my problem -- cpu 100% and lots of RAW files -- however I have disabled Media Collector and 100% cpu + extremely slow continues. It takes up to a minute to switch between tabs on Console.
How did you find out HpmssService.exe was the culprit? I am looking at cpu usage from the Console, but you apparently can do it from TaskManager?
