Like a few others I tried installing v0.0.8 of the MySQL Installer and the installer fails with a 1603 error. I've included the WHS log file below.

It apparently thinks it's installed all ok & then fails to start MySQL. On closer inspection I find that the mysql folder hasn't been created in c:\program files & therefore there is no bin\mysql.exe file to start. The service is installed ok but it fails to start with error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. I tried uninstalling everything & creating the mysql\bin folder manually before reinstalling but no mysql.exe file gets put into the folder. First time round the folder D:\MySQL Databases\ was created ok but on re-install I see that hasn't been created either...

This is almost a fresh install of WHS with no other add-ins (except for your php install - which worked fine).

Really like to get it going.

I'm not in a position to check on this fully, but the first thing that stands out is it was working on drive E instead of D. I'm not sure if there is anything hard coded in the sql ini file for D so will check when I get home. Can you shed any light on your drive arrangement on the server?

sorry, oldgoat... same applied to your issue as well. Could you let me know whats on E?

I'm pretty sure mysql hard codes the database drive in the ini file and thats probably what the issue is

Thanks for the quick response. Yes the system has a separate E drive that's used for periodic backups of WHS itself (i.e. Server backup drive not server storage drive).

I'll remove it for now & try the install again...

Temporarily disconnected the E drive & MySQL install worked fine. Reconnected the E drive & everything still ok.

I think this may be the problem some other respondents have had...

Good work, thanks.

Great thanks for the update; I'll make some amendments for the next release to counter that.

Cheers.

Nigel.

No problem, Cougar. You've a lot on your plate!

That's definately it. My system has a 2nd 1.5 gb drive, to which the system assigned E:. It is used only for server backups. Disabling server backups didn't work, so temporarily I removed that drive physically.

Your installer went without a hitch with no E: drive. I haven't tested anything, but at least I finally got it installed.

Thanks to Bandit99 and you for a much-needed workaround.

Yeah Xmas in Disneyworld was a killer :D

Thanks for letting me know; i'll sort it once and for all with the next release, which will kill off the Access Violation issue as well.

macfather asked a couple of questions about mySQL setup back in Dec.
The following seems to work, anyone have better ideas or pointers to more information.
In IIS Mgr under Default Web Site, right click on Properties for pma.
Under Directory Security, IP address and ..., click Edit, check Denied access.
Then Add, then check Group of computers. Net ID something like 192.168.0.0
Subnet mask something like 255.255.255.0
You will need to use https://myserver/pma to access now, not your internet name for server.

To enable computers on your home net to use mysql clients add an entry to WHS firewall for tcp port 3306, if you want clients in internet space need to setup router also to pass 3306.

No way I would open access to a database server to internet, just seems to risky.
As for how secure the protection above is for /pma, I don't know, just know I can't use it from outside my home net.

Hello,
I'm new to the forum but have used WHS for a while now. I used to have a website using PHP and MySQL, so when I had to to a fresh install recently, I decided to use the add in's for these two programs. However, I'm having problems accessing the root user on phpmyadmin log in screen.
Here are my exact installation steps:
Installed PHP Add In
Rebooted
Installed MySQL Add In
Rebooted
Put https://xxserver/pma into IE7
IE7 comes back with "There is a problem with this website's security certificate"
I click "Continue to this website"
It now goes to the Log In page
Username is "root"
Password is left empty
Click "Go"
IE7 comes back with "The website cannot display the page" with the "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error"
I'm not sure what is wrong since the test page is working correctly.
Can someone help?
Thanks in advance,
Chuck

I think this is a clash with libmysql.dll; doesn't seem to effect everyone for some reason either. Just rename the libmysql.dll in c:\program files\mysql\bin and restart and you should be good to go. It will be resolved in the next release.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will try that eventually. My server is currently in use and I can't restart it. I also use WHS to record my TV, so my wife may not like it if I restart it.

Not to rush you at all, but do you know when the next install will come out? If relatively soon, I may just wait.

Also, I'm going to PM you with some non related questions that you may be able to answer for me. I will send it shortly.

Thanks,
Chuck

Cougar,
That got me into it. However I still have some issues per phpMyAdmin. At the bottom of the main screen it tells me that "The additional features for working with linked tables have been deactivated" as well as another message that says "Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.36. This may cause unpredictable behavior"
Do you have any idea as to what these problems are and why I am having them? Also I sent you a PM with other questions.
Do you have any idea why IE7 comes back with "There is a problem with this website's security certificate" when I try to go into pma? Can it be corrected?

Thanks in advance,
Chuck
