Keeping this LX195 runnning is proving to be a challenge. Every couple of days the Avast virus generates an error message which causes the LX195 to quit responding and turns the health light red.

If I soft reboot the machine, the machine starts up but the health light just blinks constantly, and the machine never comes online. If it came online I could uninstall the avast plugin.

I am just wondering if anyone has came across this, and if yes, how did you fix it? ](*,)

How about some more details, please? What is the error message? Do you have anything attached to the LX195?

You refer to this occurring every "couple of days", but then you say you cannot get it running again? Seems contradictory. Could you elaborate a bit?

Hi John, hmm, well, after fighting with the server and not being able to restore it this morning I decided to see if I could return it to Amazon. Fortunately the answer is yes, so I have packed it up for the return.

I really wanted to like this unit, and I have to say if WHS is this finicky on all supported devices, I will be looking for a Linux backup solution. This thing was too much work.

I wish I had copied down the errors I saw in the log, but they did not seem like critical errors at the time.

Sorry you had a bad experience. (I do not think it is typical though.)

Hi John, again thanks for your help. I am looking now into putting together a small ITX MoBo based box. I think if I run Linux on this box and VNC or RDC into it, I can do most of what my WHS server did, plus I can use the box for other things.

I do think the LX195 needs some work. I hope all WHS machines are not like it. I think no matter what software error the unit should join the network so that I could admin it remotely. The restore procedure needs to be beefed up .. not working with a Windows 7 machine is a real show stopper.

As I said, I wanted to like this machine, but at this point I am glad it is going back.
