Thank you in bringing this to my attention. I tested my email today and everything looks fine.

Of course, when you email me, "mss_cable_service<at>vovtech<dot>com", make sure you translate the "<at>" into an '@' character and the "<dot>" into a '.' character. If you've done this, and you're email won't work, give it a few minutes (hours?) and try to email me again--perhaps my email provider had to shut down their servers for maintenance. If this still fails, then simply send me a personal message (via the personal message feature built into this site). I cannot guarantee that I will get the personal message in a timely fashion, so this method is strongly discouraged.

What part of the world do you live in? I have spam filtering disabled, but I'm wondering if perhaps a spam filter is blocking you?

cakalapati,

I know Dec is comming close but do you know when you will be ready to ship the cables people have been asking for? I am abit anxious to see my EX470 boot so I can troubleshoot an issue. Other then that I have a USB/VGA cable that works fine but it doesn't show you the boot processes.

Thanks in advance!

I have bought this cable (VGA/PS2 edition) and it really works great with my Asus Aspire H340.

As I'm going to sell my WHS and switch to a Small Business Server, I no longer need the cable. So if you are from Germany or Europe please take a look on my auction on ebay.de: Search for "acer H340 / HP MediaSmart Server VGA PS2 Kabel [Gen2]"

@schwarmt: Thank you for those kind words. I can't find the cable on ebay so I'm assuming your cable sold pretty quickly. :D

Hi everyone. I have a large batch of cables ready to ship. Unfortunately, I don't know how long this batch is going to last, but it should be alright until the end of the year (2009). If you've sent me an email, requesting to be put in line, you will be the first to receive a PayPal invoice (via email). If you have not received a PayPal invoice by the end of the day, let me know (via email).

Please give me a few business days to ship your cable. I can only ship so many cables in one day. My goal is to have the backlog clear by Friday, December 4th.

For anyone reading this for the first time, you can request a cable by following the directions in the first post of this thread.

Thanks I have a gen 1 cable for my EX475 - works great.
I just bought an EX495. Do you know if these work with the EX495 yet?

@Loren: Several people with EX-49x computers have purchased a cable from me without reporting any problems. Some have even posted to the forum, confirming that it works like a charm. I still do not have a EX-49x computer, so I cannot *officially* confirm whether it works or not. I am planning on getting an EX-49x computer as soon as my local electronics retailer carries the unit. When I do, I will update the compatibility hardware listed in the first post.

I received my cable yesterday and it works great I am a very happy with it. After receiving it I thought long and hard about how to route the cable and then what to do with the board itself.

After several hours I decided to run the cable along side the motherboard and exit by the powersupply connector then run the cable out towards the front turning the cable left then down along the top of the lower front cover along the top of the LED Board. I took the lower front cover to work and removed the plastic to the left of the steel frame and the side of the plastic cover with a dremel. I picked up some velcro, 4 way cable connectors, cable ties and will run the cable along the lower side of the MSS using the velcro to hold the board itself and the 4 way connectors to cable tie the cable. When I finish installing this later tonight when I get home I will post pictures so my description will become more clear.

I chose this path because after much thought because:

(1) It was easy to run the cable without much interfearance
(2) Case modifications were very simple
(3) Should I need to remove the motherboard the cable is easily accessible and there is no worry about damaging the wires.

Now all I have to do is get home and finish the job. I do believe this install makes the best sense and its so simple anyone can do it.

First thing I did when I got home was snap some pictures and then proceeded to finish my installation. Before I display the pictures just a few notes of things I over looked. First I used a 3M Product for Velcro which is like Super Velcro its called Scotch Fasteners. While I used its like the super glue of traditional velcro infact its something similar but getting it to attach itself is somewhat difficult. I would not recommend this product for easy on off application. Next the cable route is perfectly good but its a challenge to get the lower front cover on and I am not talking about the insanely difficult microscopic screws HP Used but the cable does apply some pressure to the cover so if you do not take your server apart frequently this will be perfect fine. If you are one to rip your server apart then you may become annoyed with the cable route but it is a very simple solution.

So here are the pictures for your review and comments:

Attachments:
File comment: Bottom view of the lower front cover with the plastic removed. If you do this there is a rib that supports the stand off do not grind to much. I only removed the area exposed by the metal bracket.

File comment: I removed enough plastic from the side to allow the cable to pass through with some additional clearnance so I would not have the plastic stressed out or acting as a strain relief on the cable itself. You can also barely see the plastic I removed next to the metal bracket as shown in the previous picture.

File comment: Side view of the cover with the removed plastic. Next best thing to the MSS is a Dremel.

File comment: Displays the cable route in the cover itself. I also attached cable ties to the power supply cable to help secure the cable but it may be the cause of the stiffness in the cable that caused me some difficulty when installing the cover.

Silhouette ~ Your going to enjoy being able to use your server with that cable. Figuring out how you want to install it will be the biggest challenge. I think my solution is good but there is another person who actually built a platform to fit under his MSS and he installed all his KVM connections there which was very nice.
