Oh so tempting.... But the reviews scare me off this (as well as the Seagate 1.5 TB units).

Going to stick with WD for now...

I have 5 2TB drives sitting in my newegg cart, just can't get myself to press the submit button (made the mistake of reading through the reviews again!!!). At this price I may just reduce the order to 1-2 and see how they run for a while

What's the current opinion on Hitachi drives?

Newegg has,
2TB model 0F10311 for $150 after $10 instant rebate
2TB model HD32000 IDK/7K for $140 after $30 mail-in rebate

I usually avoid mail-in rebates but it seems like a very good price. Reviews seem OK, but not as good as the WD reviews.

I noticed the Amazon deal and was planning on purchasing the Seagate for my EX495, since that's what it came with. Thanks for the information on the Samsung. I see there is only a $9 difference between the two.

What other factors should I be considering? It looks like the Seagate spins up faster, but the Samsung might last longer due to the slower speeds.

I see people who like both. I also read up that some of the Seagats are making a clicking noise....Maybe I'll just flip a coin

I like using a 7200RPM drive (such as the Barracuda or the WD Caviar Black) as the O/S drive and stick with the Green drives (such as the Samsung, Seagate LP and WD GP Drive) for the storage drives. I ended up picking up 2 of the Seagate LP 2TB drives yesterday at $139, figured at that price I would take a chance on the clicking noise

WD15EADS for $89.99 on NewEgg (limit 1 per person for a 48 hour period). They did take two accounts shipped to two different addresses though...

Probably the only perk to getting one per order is that they can't send two or three drives in bubble wrap bouncing around. My only challenge with NewEgg is crappy packing.

I just got 2 TB Seagate drives yesterday from Newegg. They actually wrapped each one in bubble wrap, and then put in its own individual little box. They didnt do the whole tape job they usually do, so wondering if they ran out of tape!!! I actually preferred the way they wrapped it this time.

TigerDirect has the WD 1TB drive for 69.99 today only. Does not appear to be a limit to the number you can buy. It is the WD10EADS so it the the 32mb cache model.

The last 2 of these I got from Newegg 2 weeks ago were packed like that without any tape on the bubble wrap.

Nice catch, just ordered 3 of these. This leaves my dad's server maxed out (EX495 + TR5M = 15TB) and my server with 2 bays left (16TB so far)

I just ordered two of them to go with my new EX495.

I am giving my daughter my EX485... and I was planning on giving it to her with minimal drives. Now I will plan to keep two 2TB drives in her EX485 and use the new drives in my new EX295.
