Hello,

I am setting up my Mac mini as HTPC and I am a newbie to Macs, so please forgive any ignorant questions. I am serving media from my MSS and I figured out how to connect to the MSS from the Mac so I can see it in the finder. However, when I try to add my movies to Plex, although I can browse to the server location, plex does not pull up any cover art or info for the files. When the screen comes up that is supposed to offer lookup options such as IMDB, it is just blank. Has anyone encountered this? I'm wondering if my files need to be a certain type or organized a certain way for this to work. Or maybe they are located in too deep of a folder hierarchy.

Any insight is appreciated!

Not that it is a direct answer to your question but....Have you tried XBMC?

I use it on a mini, an apple tv and a windows box. They all work great and no "special" folder structure is necessary even though I do my best to keep things neat.

Try it out!

http://smokingapples.com/software/tutorials/a-guide-to-using-plex-to-manage-your-media/

I found these instructions very helpful in setting up Plex on my Mac Mini. It's so much nicer than Front Row and is Harmony Remote-friendly which for me means that my wife & kids use it easily.
