My Power supply has gone south. I have purchased another that was recommended from different boards.

FSP200-50LA2

I received it and once i looked and compared it to the Hipro HP-U200EF3, I noticed that the ATX pins where different.

The FSP200 is like any other i have seen yet the HP one has 20 ports and one cable in each one.

Either way i installed the FSP and pushed the power and nothing.

I have looked everywhere trying to see what it could be but no hope.

If any of you have had this problem please help.

Thank you.

There is a tutorial in the works for this, forum member erail gave it to me a few weeks ago but I've not had time to edit and add photos and publish to teh Wiki yet, primarily due to having a newborn in the house. The tutorial will be available as soon as I can get it published, hopefully in the next few days.

Thanks for the quick response. I have ordered my PSU from atxpowersupplies.com I have email them about there guarantee about it working with HP mediasmart server and i have not received a response.

I have called them and i get an a$$ that says he is also the manager and said they will reply to the emails.

I hope soon that the tutorial will be completed.

I know im out the money for the PSU i bought but hope the tutorial helps on that part.

UPDATE!!!

The company that sold me the PSU finally contacted me and said i can return the power supply for a refund or exchange.

I am just wondering if i should wait for a tutorial to come out so i can have it converted to work with my mediasmart server or should i return it for a refund?

Please some one help me out on this. As well when will the tutorial come out?

Thank you.

I don't have a publish date for the tutorial, as it can not be my top priority at the moment. I do hope to get it out soon (within the next week hopefully) but can not commit to a timeframe.

I took the liberty of changing the title of this thread from "Replacing UPS with FSP200-50PLA2" to "Replacing WHS PS with FSP200-50PLA2" as this is not a UPS that is being replaced, it is the WHS power supply!

Send me a PM if you have a problem with this and I'll change it back...

As far as returning for a refund, currently you may not have any other options other than modifying a power supply to work with the MSS. HP currently is not offering replacement parts. This means that if you want the MSS back up and running you will have to modify an aftermarket power supply. If it were me, I would keep it and wait for the tutorial. Otherwise, you have a dead MS on your hands.

Looks like from this post in another thread HP may now be offering Out of Warranty repairs on the MSS. viewtopic.php?p=43688#p43688 Not exactly what you're looking for but a possible solution path for your power supply failure. I imagine they would be able to give you a cost over the phone for the replacement of the power supply so you could weigh in advance whether it's worth replacing it yourself or sending to HP.
