Not sure I'd spend $130 for the dumbed down version, but think this is interesting nonetheless!

Per the company's website here, it would seem one cable does it all. Unless of course your USB ports are underpowered, requiring a second USB cable, in which case two cables do it all. ;)

Um... Just stating the obvious here...? You will still need a keyboard and mouse in order to use the screen... I was excited for about 1 minute until I remembered about the mouse/keyboard issue... :(

Even with the $200 (touch screen) edition, you still need a keyboard... *sigh*

...nothing is ever easy....

Sweet! I just ordered one. If I like it I'll look for the backordered touchscreen version in the Spring.

A USB keyboard and mouse work fine and are dirt cheap...

I could not get it to work, but I sure do love it hooked up to my main computer. I use to watch the news while I am doing other things on the comptuer. Apparently there needs to be a bios update in order to get it to work...I think...says something about upgrading the video driver.

I'd be interested in the specific error message, if you get access to that, to see what's the limiting factor.

Ok here goes, but before I do that here is what the manual says.

Operating Systems

Vista-Supported except 64-bit system
XP-Supported
2000-Supported
Server 2003-Not Supported

Here is the error

Before installing DisplayLink Core software and drivers please install up-to-date OEM drivers for your PC's graphics hardware. Please refer to the DisplayLink Core documentation for further information.

Definitely doesn't sound good, and not very helpful error message. Oh well, thanks!
