Well my build changed a lot as I am getting a free z87 motherboard so I have decided to change a few parts how big of a difference would there be between these two chips, its about a $55 difference

Intel Core i5-4430 Haswell 3.0GHz LGA 1150 84W vs Intel Core i3-4130 Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 54W

I am more of a amd person.
But 55.00 is not much difference.
Of course that means power supply needs more power.

But server wise you probably will not tell the difference.
Desktop is a different story.
I assume you have more cache in the i5 chip so that will help some on performance.

My 2 cents
(Intel Core i3-4130 Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 54W) it's what I used for my win2012esentials box because of the low wattage/less heat.
I'm running it on a ssd mirror raid and works great!
Goodluck

It would be great for the guys to educate me.

For me it is a no brain er, if you can get a faster cpu that uses less watts (heat) less (power) it is perfect for a server.
The I5 may have more guts if you plan on using the server for more then just storage, then the I5 may be a better choice.

Right sizing your components can save you money not only on parts, but on the electric bill as well, plus heat has to be dealt with, which will most likely be more fans = more noise = more power and the power supply might need to be a little bigger which equals more money = more heat.

Hope this makes since.
