Looks like the right slot to me. Really looks like the only slot that would match the connector that comes on the adapter.
I do not have the LX-195 but do have the x-510 I believe it is the same connector.
Good Luck and enjoy.

I received my Gen4 Debug Board last week. The installation went perfectly and it works great!
I now know that the system hard drive in my EX475 has crashed. I need to research restoration while saving data on the other drives. Fortunately, I have the server restoration disk.
I am a retired electronics technician/field service engineer. So, I have an appreciation for fine craftsmanship. This cable and board are professionally constructed with quality in mind.
Thank you Charles,
namron

Well it looks like I may have waited too long. If you have any of the "VGA + PS2 Keyboard + PS2 Mouse Assembly" left I would like to buy one.

Somehow, I missed the boat by a few days. If you have any boards left, please PM me.

If all else fails, i found these on ebay. not the same but might be better then nothing.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-Adapter-for-HP-MediaSmart-EX470-EX475-EX480-EX485-EX487-EX490-EX495-/322486734820?hash=item4b15b50fe4:g:OxAAAOSwfVpYvEu0

Not my listing.........

Also, another thought is buying a used server that comes with one so not only do you get the adapter but you also get spare parts. Just a thought....

Good Luck

Noooooo. I have 3 servers that I haven't used in awhile. Wanted to do a backup and then login - for the life of me I can't remember the passwords!! Never changed them in years. ANY chance at all to buy whatever stock you may have left. I knew I'd have to "upgrade" the servers but thought I'd have to buy new - didn't think about loading different software on the 3 servers.

I REALLY need something like this.

Does the fact that the VGA/PS2 adapter still has the "Add to cart" link WITHOUT the "Sold Out" label attached to it mean that there is still stock available on these?

I believe they are out of stock, but not sure.
I do know you can find something like this on ebay, it's not as fancy but will work.
It is just VGA and is not my sale.
But better then nothing if you can not build one yourself.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-Adapter-for-HP-MediaSmart-EX470-EX475-EX480-EX485-EX487-EX490-EX495-/322565290390?hash=item4b1a63b996:g:yYEAAOSw4CFYvE6c

Good Luck and enjoy.

P.S. If you do get stock from them let us know, I know there are still more people looking to buy some....
You could try PM'ing them and see what they say....

Is anyone else here "late to the game" and finding themselves in need of the very attractive debug/vga cable they can no longer purchase from Cakalapti? I'm very proud to be able to say I figured out a pretty cheap, quick, and easy way to make your own vga cable (albeit no where nearly as pretty or well-engineered), and followed that up by making (what I hope is) a pretty nice how-to!

You should be able to find it here:

I'm a new forum user, but long time user of HP MediaSmart Server w/WHS ... finally making the plunge to upgrade to Windows Server 2016. (long arduous homework evaluation ... but I'm convinced its the move to make)

That said, I ran across the awesome MediaSmart Server VGA/PS2 Keyboard/PS2 Mouse/Serial debug board previously available from Charles/VOV ... but searched and learned I can NOT find it anywhere, and VOV email on website "contact" no longer works (sent email/failed tonight).

I cannot get into my bios, appears I will NOT be able to without this debug board or equivalent so prevents me from finalizing processor upgrade (already purchased) E8400 processor and customize other things.

Anyone on this forum have contact or access to this debug board, new or used/working?

I did purchase VGA cable off ebay which allows me to "see" boot/activities" etc. ... but unable to access (even get offer/choice to access BIOS) with USB Keyboard etc.

Thanks for any help or assistance in advance!

My best G

UPDATE: Source of info from JasonBuechler July16, 2017 ... this is where I learned about CN2 pins 3-4 jumper / shorting to access BIOS ... thank you Jason! See picture (screen shot) below of CN2 wiring + 3-4 Jumped.

I'm a long time user of HP MediaSmart 495 but recently new to this board. It's been VERY helpful to me ... I hope my reply to you provides help you need too.

I successfully located purchased/used VGA cable (from ebay) to access my 495's BIOS this past week. As others have I purchased VGA Adapter currently available on ebay ($35 bucks), added jumper to "JP2" on MB ... no access to BIOS! (no DEL selection on boot up). Searching further, I learned pins 3-4 on VGA Adapter connector needed shorting (I learned about in another post ... I can't find it right now) and "whala" .... BIOS ACCESS!

I created a jumper from "wire tie" like used on many cabling packages/loaves of bread, cut it to approximately 1 inch, stripped plastic coating about 1/4 inch on end, bent each end to create double thick wire ends approximately 1/8 in jumper wire ends. I then inserted/pressed (w/needle nose pliers) each end into the header directly at pins 3 and 4 to effectively "short" those pins. It worked PERFECTLY - BIOS now available per "DEL" on boot up!

VGA Adapter I purchased / used:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-Adapter-for-Acer-EasyStore-H340-H341-H342-HP-MediaSmart-EX470-Server/323100852721?hash=item4b3a4fc1f1:g:BxcAAOSw4CFYvFB3

See photos below

I personally decided NOT to cut permanent VGA cable mount into rear of 495 case, rather, use during setup and finalization of Server HW/SW ... then "tuck" it in front of PS / under MB so case may be buttoned up as normal. Cable will be there w/jumpers intact to access BIOS if/when needed in future.

See photos below as well.

I hope this helps - ping me back if you've any questions. Good news is for $35 bucks and improvised jumper at pins 3-4 of VGA terminal connector, I've got 100% effective access to BIOS going forward!

G

Great info, I know lots of people are re-purposing these Great little servers with a different OS and missed out on the cables when they were being made. I purchased (2) so I would have them later.
I have (4) x-510 so made since to buy 2 cables and 2 extra power supplies. :-)

Now Ebay is the only place I have seen any form of them.

But I have a question, you may or may not know.
I have read (can't find now) but I read that if you leave the Bios Jumper on the motherboard, then the server will not preform a normal recovery with Whs V1 until you take the jumper off..
I have only used my cable a couple of times and have never used it to get into the bios, so have not confirmed this.

Just wanted to mention it in case it's true and someone was having trouble recovery, it could be the Jumper..... I have no idea why it would, but someone seemed to think so.

Anyway, thanks for the great info and Good Luck and enjoy....
