How do I hook My PS3 up to my PC Monitor? Alright, I just bought a PS3 and would like to hook it up to my monitor. It's a 22'' Acer Widescreen LCD monitor. There's a DVI-D and VGA port. I would prefer to be able to use the DVI-D port, as my PC is hooked up to the VGA port, but will use the VGA port if neccessary. The max resolution on my monitor is 1680 x 1050. So, what would I need to hook it up to my monitor and how do I do it?

What you need is a VGA to Component cable. Just google it or use the search engine of your choice and you will get a listing of many suppliers. Below is one such link but it also provides additional information worth reading. Also note I have never seen this vender before I performed a search but I did find the vender site interesting.

Blue Jean cable is a good company. Monoprice and Pacific Cable are two other really good cable companies. If you want to use the HDMI output of the PS3 to the DVI-D of the monitor, you'll need a converter/adapter of that type. Any of the listed companies shoud carry it. You'll need RCA jumpers for sound and then set the appropriate options in the PS3 settings. I have mine setup like this to a circa 2003 plasma (before HDMI).
