Okay I've finally decided that my desktop is passed the "decent" stage and is now in the "Below Average" for my gaming desktop. I really figured this out when I installed Sims 3 and it ran just fine and then crashed every 30 sec. Tried my laptop... it works fine just REALLY slow on Mobile NVidia Graphics card. Strangely enough the HTPC with my ATOM board runs it perfectly with no crashes. Yeah, I know... that says a lot.
So, here's my rules for my new Gaming Rig. $4k is the spending limit. It's going to last 5 years (whether I like it or not). Expansion needs to be available. Overclocking is the $hit and must be done! With Overclocking comes watercooling!
So here's the list I came up with:
ASUS Rampage II Extreme (For supreme Overclocking)
Intel Core i7 I7-920 Quad Core (Going to
Overclock it to 4.0Ghz)
Corsair Domincator 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (This might be better at 6 not sure)
EVGA 896-P3-1170-AR GeForce GTX 275 896MB 448-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0(plus a water cooling kit - OC'd of course)
or
EVGA 017-P3-1297-AR CO-OP Hydro Copper GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0or
BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 H2O 1792MB PCIe 2.0 with ThermoIntelligence Water Cooling SolutionOn-Board Audio (SupremeFX features Creative Labs' X-FI technology and provides 7.1 sound)
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit SP1 (I
might scrimp here and just get Windows 7)
Thermaltake VH600LBWS (I'll but the LG1366 block as this is made for the Socket775)
Thermaltake TR2 W0176RU 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91or
