I'm very interested in the use of Windows 7 in conjunction with MSS. I currently do not have MSS but plan to get it soon. I am currently using xp machines (home and media center) and do not plan to upgrade to vista. I was able to download the beta file from MS and plan to test it on one of my machines. Hopefully someone here who has MSS will download the beta and let us know of any troubles with communication with MSS.

I'm glad to find this forum and hope to gain much knowledge from you guys.

Nate

Someone mentioned in another thread that they have already installed the WHS client on a W7 box using the leaked beta and experienced no problems.

The public build will be available until the end of the month according to an MS blog post. The response was so great on the first day that the server crashed. Anyway the 32 bit iso is 2.4 gb. It is not recommended that you install on your main machine as an upgrade. It works perfectly well in a virtual machine or use some lesser used machine. It works very well with WHS and MSS. What you need to do is access the shared folder on the server through the network. Supply your password and id and then install the connector software. Once you do that you are up and running without a problem. For a beta 1 this is a very solid build, but there are still some problems to be addressed so be watchful as you use the software. You should enjoy the experience. :D

Something to note about the public beta -- as with most Microsoft betas, it has a hard expiration date. This beta will stop working in August 2009.

I've been using it for a few days now and haven't experienced any issues with it. It's already much faster than Vista, especially around booting.

No. Clearly the biggest challenge with the Beta is downloading it.
