Hi. I'm looking at renting an SSL VPN service from Witopia (www.witopia.net) or some other company. Ideally, I would like for all my outgoing data on my home network to pass through this VPN, not just my laptop's data. This would include my laptop, my desktop and my MSS. I know I can purchase three accounts from Witopia. But ideally, I would get a single account and configure a router to use that account if that's possible at all. All three machines would then be connected to that router. I know you can buy SSL VPN routers but do they support rented VPN solutions to do what I'm looking for? I'm no networking expert unfortunately.

Thanks for your help.

Funny you should ask. As you already know, I use Witopia's SSL VPN service also and had the same question but haven't had a chance to pursue a possible answer.

So that makes 2 of us looking for a possible solution and hoping that you don't have to look at Cisco's enterprise solutions to resolve.

To give credit where it is due, the Witopia idea comes from you - so thanks for that. \:D/

Did you manage to get hold of a privacy statement or terms of use from them by the way? I could not find much info on their website. I've read that they don't snoop on people but do they keep logs ?(they might have to release those in case they are served an injunction for instance).

I hope someone can help out with the router question...

The answer from Witopia general info person:

The license is for a computer and not for a router. We also do not support customer hardware as we have our own hardware solution called the Cloakbox, priced at $99/year (+ initial hardware & configuration). We have a basic write-up on the main page of our shopping cart (http://www.witopia.net/cart).

I'm not a big fan of their hardware solution - in part because they don't sell it in Europe! :hm:

I just spoke with a few network folks at my workplace and it would appear that I would need a Cisco router with the capabilities to do this. Moreover, this would only be possible with PPTP and likely not with SSL VPN. (There actually going to give me one of their older Cisco 2600 router to play with but I don't know if I want to embark on that effort)

I'm abandoning the idea for the moment unless someone has a potential alternative solution. It's not worth the time and effort for me right now and may become expensive vs. the perceived benefit.
