Nobody cried censorship, and I think the issue is dealt with and done. I do try to not over-moderate and welcome any feedback when there are concerns.

:ontopic:

The TV is still on the wall, the wife and kid were watching it when I got home this evening. :) I will say you buggers have me already planning new holes to cut in my walls to run the "correct" electrical line. Any excuse to buy new tools is a good one, right... :D

I trust you're not advocating a splice outside of an electrical box and especially not in the middle of the wall. The correct way to do this would be to run the new wire out of the existing outlet box and twist it together with the original wire and with pigtails to the outlet.

Nah, Pioneer Plasma has the best picture. More pricey but better picture. I say this having both and I much prefer to watch the Pioneer.

Yes, keep it in the boxes or use a junction box.

No, if the line comes down from the celing, he can just cut that line, put in a new box, run old wire in and out of new box.

Dunno what I said there that would lead you to believe I was talkign about splicing in a wire?

Typically there would not be enough slack in the wire to do what you proposed. If there was then you propose should work just fine. Probably the use of "simple tap" made me wonder. No intent to disparage what you said.

Fortunately my wife does not WANT a wall-mount. But if she does it is accessible dead-space behind the wall and access is simple.

Maybe this is an opportunity for everyone, who don´t want to break his wall.

http://www.alunovo.de/index.php/language/en

This is namely a shop in germany, but I guess they ship all over the world or you can find something comparable
in the USA.

I used it myself and the WAF in very high, especially when you use the led-lights.

greetings
mike

Just an idea...

It´s a good solution for me because in my house the walls are made of stone and digging them is not funny.

Ding Ding Ding!! *exactly*

People can complain about running wires in the wall and whatnot, but how is it any different from the wires laying on the floor together? ITS NOT. What the code people don't know won't hurt you, or them. Induction problems are also greatly exaturated most of the time. Enjoy your new wallmount, Alex. I think you did an awesome job![/quote]

Actually, it is quite different. This wall cavity is insulated, with no convective airflow. The NEC concern is temperature rise due to resistive heating and the temperature rating of the wire insulation. I don't imagine that the LCD draws that much current, but my 42" plasma is a power hog. It also has a big 3-wire power cord as a result. My 32" LCD, which I mounted almost exactly the same way as Alex showed in this posting, also has a big 3-wire power cord...which I ran inside a hollow (uninsulated) wall cavity. Maybe not code, but I'm not concerned because I have plenty of free airflow, the wire gauge is large (low resistance)...and the current draw from the LCD is low. Just something to consider...
