idrive doesn't integrate into the WHS console if thats the question you are asking.

You will need to remote in to install it and set it up (and if you ever need to restore anything).

it works perfectly on the whs but that is a drawback if you aren't comfy with remoting in.

I've been using it for a few weeks now and really love it. I have it on my home MSS. And I also added it to my office pc to back things up there. The whole version thing is way too cool- mess up a file and you can go back up to 30 versions to find the one you want.

Thank you for the reply Michaelk. That's the info I needed to know and I am very comfortable with remoting in to the server.

After doing a lot of research on the available online backup solutions for the Home Server I ended up purchasing IDrive and have to say that the setup was a breeze. They just seemed to be the most complete, professional and best bang for the buck. The whole thing including purchase, install and setup only took about 10 minutes before I was backing my files to IDrive.

IDrive also sells for a great price. Only $4.95 per month. I choose to pay by the year for $49.50 and saved a few more dollars over the monthly cost. :l33t:

besides the easy setup and the fact it just works- their support seems to be the best.

I've emailed a few minor questions (like could i use it with groove) and they always reply withing a few hours.

I have swiched from Jungle Disk to Keep Vault.

I am really liking the Keep Vault a whole lot more than I did the Jungle Disk.

Although, I should also note that Keep Vault was given to me free for one year and therfore might be clouding my judgment.

Set it and forget it.
Real time backup if you choose.

Still using Carbonite with no issues at all. Have checked online to see if files were all there and they are. 90+ gigs and climbing!

Hi,

Word of warning about Carbonite. They have a file size limit so you may think that you are fine but that DVD you ripped probably excedes the limit and wasn't backed up.

I did have a very horrible experience with Carbonite. I lost a PC hard drive and couldn't get all my data back. As luck would have it I was able to recover all my files directly from my iPOD using the Sharepod application.

I have since moved to iDrive and found it to be a dream. I even have it set up on the EX487 and it's working fine.
