I have a old WD media player not the "live" version connected to a 2tb hardrive. When I fast foward on any movie thats a mp4 it throws the Voices all out of sync. I have a 3tb drive ,also thats a usb 3.0 . In my research in other media servers they aren't 3.0 compliant. In hope that a different interface would improve speeds

If you connect that hard drive to a computer and then play the same MP4 and fast forward do you experience the same issue? Your media play may be perfectly fine but the issue could be with the file. The other thing to note from my reading about the Original WD Media player is that it had issue (not sure what issues) the WD never corrected. I own 2 WDTV Live Media Players the 2nd and 3rd version and both work well except the 2nd version has difficulty with the larger Blu-Ray MKV Files where as the 3rd version does not but the 2nd version has a 10/100 port and the 3rd version has a gigabit port.

Now I am no expert in streaming media, heck I am happy to get movies to play and while the WD Media Players are just basic units they get the job done. If scan through the news feeds you will find a ton of write up by Damian who often writes about media extenders. He is very detailed so its all good information being passed on.
