Looking to buy 4 (or less, any number you are willing to sell) HDD caddies for an EX490 server cobbled together from a chassis with a replacement PSU. Will pay for shipping from anywhere in the world.

Forum member BlokeWithBeard posted he purchased caddies. Here is where he mentions purchasing them viewtopic.php?p=70323#p70323

Check it out and let me know how you make out. You might want to send BlokeWithBeard a PM and ask for a picture of the caddies he has purchased just to make certain they are what your looking for.

I sent off a PM to BlokeWithBeard immediateley. Will let you know how it turns out. I must confess I'm a bit doubtfull. Where would Ripcaster (the shop that claims to sell them) get them from? I doubt HP would supply just this one company with caddies. :-k
Anyway, we'll see.

Thanks for your help again!

I think you will find that Ripcaster is a company that specialises in selling (recycling) computer parts from old systems. I have never seen a company (even HP) that will retail the caddies for the EX470/475 anywhere as yet. Time will tell.

Its why I also asked to see a picture of them. I did visit the site and they offer no picture or much info about the caddies. I can say one thing tho by the time you get one here state side it would be expensive.

I haven't heard from BlokeWithBeard yet (hardly surprising since I've only PM'ed him a couple of hours ago :) ). But, impatient as I am, I ordered one. I do agree with SteffJay; I'm assuming this will be a part from an older machine. If it works, thats fine with me. According to the checkout procedure and the confirmation e-mail the part wil cost me 10,21 GBP (including shipping!). That's not too bad.

Possible outcomes:

- I've been cheated and receive nothing (unlikely); lost 10,21 GBP. I'll live
- I receive a non fitting caddy; lost 10,21 GBP. I'll live
- I receive an old (or maybe new) caddy that works. Great, I'll order three more! \:D/

I'll keep you posted.

Well, it's been three weeks now. I did receive an automated order confirmation from Ripcaster, and that was it. No more mails, and no caddy. They didn't bill me either.
Can't really recommend them, at this time. :|

Yes I posted a message they were out of stock. I contacted them to see if I could obtain a picture of them to verify they had the correct listing. 24 Hrs later I received a response from them that they were out of stock.

This is one item I which HP would sell.

I do recall Alex mentioning that when he was with HP that another department use to borrow caddies from his dept but I just remember him posting something about it is all.
