I believe I have trays in storage in my MSS Parts Area but I really need to check first.

I will mention that all the trays are interchangeable between all the MV, MSS, DV and early Black Bird Systems with the only difference being the tab color. The only units which used the Red Tabs were the EX48x, EX48x, x310 and x510.

How many trays and what color tabs are you looking for?

The tabs in mine are red, but I don't care about the color as long as they fit OK.

In my case, the small circular pieces on the sides seem to come out out of the keyhole slots and all of my persuading doesn't seem to get them to stay where they are put. Therefore, the trays don't slide properly. In one case, I took one of the 4 out and it seems OK. I take one of these out and in etc once per month to do a backup that I keep offsite.

The trays don't seem to be the best designed pieces, do they?

I could probably do with two, if you have them.

Thanks!

I don't recall having issues with those gromets but the metall tabs for grounding on the bottom of the trays always get me and the way to avoid issues with those is to pull slightly up then out.

There is another tray design which does work but it block air flow accross the drive. I actually have one but never used it. Erail found some trays he modified to fit in an MSS Enclosure he converted to become a Port Multiplier that you may want to look at. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4185

Maybe when I get home today I will look at the other trays I have in my other servers to see how they fit in the MSS as well because if your not really liking the MSS Tray design then you might want to try a different tray and I have 3 or 4 different tray designs which may possibly fit and still look good and allow air to flow over the drives and most certainly they are better built then the MSS Trays but the locking part is differnt and so that my not play well but thats where a dremel comes in very handy.

Haven't seen the issues that you mention, but I only do the "backup" drive out/in/out once per month. Halfway through the month, I also backup to an ESATA drive attached to the EX495.

As I mentioned, the color doesn't matter to me as long as they fit the EX495.

Regards,

K
