Thanks to everyone for their generous contributions on repairing the HP power supply, fantastic information!

I'd like to provide a little bit of information on how to buy the components, if you're inclined to do your own repairs.

You can use this site and the part number to find where it's carried, how much it costs, and where you can get it: http://octopart.com

The internal power supply time blow fuse is manufactured by Littlefuse; TR5 5A 382 series and comes in several part numbers. Here are two:

TR5 5A 382 series fuse:
Littelfuse #38215000410 (short leads, 4.3mm)
Littelfuse #38215000000 (18.8mm leads)

I bought some of each just to see how well I could use them - if you're a regular home hobbyist, get the longer leads, it gives you more room to work

The Bridge rectifier part number is:
Single phase bridge rectifier KBU8J
The Diotec part doesn't seem to be available but the Vishay part is readily stocked by a number of distributors.

I bought parts from Newark but Arrow, Mouser, and Digi-Key all seem to carry these. Shipping can cost more than the actual parts so that's why I used Newark in this instance.

Hopefully, this will help someone out.

I've had an EX487 since Feb 2009, running like a top until last month when it blew a drive and the power supply.

Thanks,

Paul
