My original Ex470 is finally giving up the ghost, and I'd like to either buy an upgraded ex495, or learn how to build my own server with WHS 2011.

Drop me a PM with best offers.

I'd need very explicit directions though.

What's the best I can do with $500.

Check new egg but just as an example

Zotac 1156 MB $129
i3 CPU $109
4G Ram DDR3 $35
Case $50
WHS 2011 $99
HD $80

More ram than you need and plenty of expansion for HD expansion

About $500 This mother board can take an i5 or i7 for future growth

Similar to the system I built over a year ago. Althought I spent way to much on case. Not required. Mostly you build the server, set it in place and forget it.

My build

Good luck

I am still running WHS v1. And for the last year I cant remember any issues, except for when I experimented with WHS 2 Beta. Switched back to WHS 1 and flawless execution. Later in fall will switch to WHS 2

The only reason I picked that MB was becuase I need a Micro/Mini to fit in small case like HP MSS. I would not do that again. Bigger case, bigger MB with at least 6 SATA connection and PCI slots for more SATA HD

so this motherboard is too small for the case? And what power supply is good. I found this one, but not sure if its overkill.
