In case of other WHS newbies trying to install WHS on a Vista PC and getting this error message:

Error 2738 Could not access vbscript runtime for custom action when running the WHS Install script...try the following:

Start Programs\Accessories...right click on Command Prompt
Click "Run as Administrator"
In the DOS box, type "Cd \windows\system32" (check to see that vbscript.dll is that directory on YOUR PC)
Type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll"

As I understand it, vbscript.dll was not "registered" on Vista PCs for whatever reason.

The only way I could get around this was to avoid using the install program on the disk and instead install the connecto from the media server inself. To do this:
1. Navigate to \\MEDIASERVER (or whatever the IP address or sever name is) in Windows Explorer
2. Navigate to the "Home Server Connector Software" folder and run SETUP.EXE

It's weired that I had the problem on only 1/2 of my VISTA 32 machines, but it worked for me.

Thanks, this was worth a shot. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. So far none of the MS Fixits have worked either. This has been very painful.
