HP Support has advised me that everyone should wait until both client PC and Server have their clocks on March 1, due to the recently discovered bug with todays (Feb 29) "Leap Day".

If you encounter a password prompt when setting up a brand-new server, or the below error message, then you have encountered the bug. Please try again sometime Saturday in your local time zone.

For those unlucky enough to get a new MediaSmart Server today and experience this bug. Does that mean that when they attempt to setup their MediaSmart Server after midnight that they will need to recover their server first?

If my memory is not to shot, on a new install, or on a recovery done today one has basically two tries at entering the password. If one exits the connector software before the install is completed the software must be uninstalled on the PC and reinstalled. But **I believe** that the server recovery DVD must be run on the MediaSmart as this leaves it in a failed state. Is this belief correct?

I'm thinking for most users that experienced this bug today it will be more complicated than simply putting the disc in tomorrow and running the program again. I believe they will need to do a server factory recovery to continue tomorrow.

Just a thought...

I almost wanted to check the calendar to see if it was April 1 (April Fool's ) instead of February 29. You would think this could have been foreseen and corrected.

In my case yes. I tried rebooting everything after midnight and still got the bug. I then did a Factory reset and all is well now. Good luck with yours.

Hello,

Today (we March 1), the result is the same, after a reser factory and a complete setup of the connector, a password is required.
I wonder if anyone about the "default" administrator password during the pre-installation?

Thanks

Fredock, do a factory reset with the recovery disk first to put everything back to the OOTB settings. Once that is complete it should work fine. It did for me and I'm up and running just fine now. :D
