You do understand that the .msi you download has to be installed on the client and then the whs add-in is published from the client?

Edit: If you are upgrading you must uninstall and delete on the server before you publish from the client.

OK, here are the screens from V1 for comparison.

There appears to be a fairly substantial loss of function with V 1.1, enough that I am hesitant to give up the original! I wonder if they will co-exist?

Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

Among other things, the new V1.1 is missing the Backup tab that lets you set the Health threshold where you can set the number of days a backup does not run until an notification is made. I was using Alex's Remote Notification Add-In to receive an email if an auto backup was not run. I really miss this feature.

I unistalled V1.0 and installed the new V1.1 2 days ago because I am alway of the opinion the latest version of something is better due to bug fixes, etc.

Anything in the new version I might need? So far I have stayed with the original. (Very unlike me!)

I am not WHS expert by any means but other than any bugs they fixed it doesn't look like any new or improved functionality was added but Microsoft removed some important capability.

thanks!

Thanks for the info. Was a little confused about the installation, but I think I got it right! Didnt expect to have to install on my desktop, then my WHS, but got them both installed. No problems with my connectivity... at work... I know I am in trouble at home, however...

I removed the original Add-In and tried to install the new 1.1 Tool Kit but it did not show up in the Available Add Ins tab.

When you install it on client there will be a Publish Servere Add-In under Start, All Programs,
Windows Home Server toolkit.

You can also change these in Alex's "WHS Backup Database-Backup (BDBB)" Add-In.

@pyrotech or ginfest

Assuming I can ever get my WHS up and running properly, I think I'd also like to use the V1.0 toolkit rather than V1.1, which seems to be the only thing on MS downloads now. Do either of you still have it?

Thanks.
