I have an EX490 that has been running flawlessly for years. All looks good on the server but the WHS icon is greyed out on my PC and I cannot RDC into it.

The date has been an issue in the past, I think the battery is dead. But I was always able to get it and change the date and then backups would start again and it would turn green.

Now I get the error that it's unable to connect to the server at this time, etc.

I pulled the system disk and ran a chkdsk on it and it was perfect. Any ideas would be helpful.

Maybe the battery gave up the ghost and finally died.
So when it boots it never completes.
The led's should reflect something is wrong

You need to take it apart to get to it.
It is a coin battery..
I replaced mine in a ex490 about 8 or 9 months ago.
Something like a 2032 or 2025
I think I had to reboot twice after to get the current date or possibly it just took a while to update the timestamp.

I'm pretty certain (like 100%) the battery is a CR2032. It takes the server something like 24 hours of on time before it syncs the time. If you first set it to the minute and get the seconds close, you'll be fine for your first backup. The server will then reset time and your golden.
