Hey everyone

I wanted to check out the BIOS on my WHS, but during boot up there is nothing on screen mentioning which key to press to enter BIOS setup. I have tried F1-12, Del, Esc to no avail. Even F11 to enter BSS Boot does not trigger anything, yet Shift-F10 works to get into the NIC settings.

I was thinking of reflashing the BIOS, but Hp support page no longer has the drivers and files. Does anyone have any thoughts or can send me a copy of their ROM file? My WHS specs are

WHS V1
HP EX495
AMIBios Version ENCR B015

I should also mention i have tried jumpering the JP2 pin with no change.

Thanks

The only way to get into bios is with the jumper on. Assuming you have the vga adapter to see the boot.
I hear it goes very fast.
But my question is what would you flash it to?
No upgraded bios that I know of and the EX-490 and x-510 were the last on the microservers. Unless you have something "bios" that is modded and it would have to be something good before I chanced it.

I believe it is DEL key or maybe F2, I would try those with the jumper on as soon as the display does anything TAP/TAP Tap del and then try F2 tap/tap/tap as it boots.

Goodluck, I would be curious what you have to flash to it and why....

I dont have a moded BIOS to my knowledge. I have a home made vga debug cable installed. yet i cant not gain access to the bios no matter what keys i push.

I was thinking of reflashing the bios incase something had gone wrong...... I would use AFUWIn to reflash it from within windows.

Ok so i was finally able to get into the bios... wierdest thing was it used F3or F4 to get in..... However in the boot settings config the "hit "del" message display" was enabled despite it not actually appearing. I ended up disabling this option, rebooting, reenabling then rebootign again. Somehow that did the trick as i could no longer access with the f3/f4 key and the del message was appearing during startup, and Del actually got me in....
donno what to say....

Good to know, Thx. I have thought many times about re configuring my fan settings to be just a bit faster in the summer time.
One of these days when I have to put the forth drive in I will moat likely have to.

Again, Thx and Good Luck and enjoy.
