My EX490 refuses to startup since the last few weeks - when I disconnect the power supply and press the power button at the back, just blinks a few times and then nothing happens
Nothing happens when pressing the power button at the back at other times.

Is this a power supply issue or something with the mother board - any ideas if anyone is still active on this forum

Most times it is a drive failure.
Do you have the SMART ADD-IN?
That will tell you if a drive is failing.
But it could be a psu also.

Since this is after the fact I suggest to pull all the drives connect them to you pc and run CHKDSK.
Starting with the system drive.

You can then plug the drives back into the server.
STARTING WITH JUST THE OS DRIVE IN THE BOTTOM BAY.
Ignore the errors about the missing data drives for now.

tried chkdsk on all four drives and all reported no errors with chkdsk

Replugged the system drive - just blinks a few times and then goes dead.
Any ideas

Do you have a extra drive not used.
If so pull out all the drives from the server and any usb devices plugged into the server place a known good blank drive in the bottom bay.
It should go into recovery mode ,if it goes blank again I would be looking at possibly the psu or a bad connection inside the server.

By using this program on the server (via remote desktop) you can find out the name / model number of the motherboard, but sorry to say, it won't do you any good as they are not sold anywhere. Can't even get replacement parts for them. That why I bought 4 servers when I could, for spare parts down the road.
Also it was before Microsoft abandoned WHS but we already had found out HP was not offering replacement parts..
Ebay seems to be the best place to find stuff now.

I have the X-510, same hardware as the EX-490 and this is what it says.

Board: Wistron 532837-ZH1 A
Serial Number: 532837-ZH194????????????????????? <----- was not comfortable with the full serial number in public
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. X510 1.00 07/23/2009

Good Luck and enjoy.....
