i have a ex475 with 4 drives installed which is used to store films and tv shows all has been working fine for the past 3 years since i updated the drives, however over the past few months i have been finding it harder and harder to cut and paste. basically files are placed into a folder on the server and then i would cut and paste them in to the relevant folders, but now it just hangs when i try to paste, causing explorer to become unresponsive and i have to restart the pc.
it also hangs when trying to delete certain files

pc operation is fine otherwise it is only when im moving files on the server the issue occurs.

any ideas

Hello , got to ask. Do you have the free Smart addin installed so you will know the drives are ok? If not that would be the very first thing I would do.

If you do have Smart installed and all the drives are OK then I would be looking at some server OS maintenance.
I remote desktop in every few months and run windows disk cleanup (only on the C drive) and then run Windows disk defrag (only on the C drive)
Then I like to clear out all the event log files.
After all these are done, a quick reboot and you should be running faster/smoother, if not, let us know and we can dig a bit deeper.

P.S. Are you running any software on the server to stream the video/TV files?
I run serviio to stream to my Samsung TV and I find if I need to do a move /delete/transfer it works better if I remote to the server and do it directly.
If I don't I get "file in use sometimes"
