I have an HP EX470 server running WHS2007 that suffered a HD failure after an electrical surge. Could not get anywhere trying to do a recovery. Do not want to do a restore due to 5gb of data on other drives. So I bought an EX490 with a working system drive (WHS2007). But then I learned I still had to do a recovery to get it to 'see' my data drives. I've been stuck ever since. 1st it seemed that my disc copy of WHSConnector did not match what was on the system drive. So I downloaded a copy of WHSConnector from MS with a matching file date. However I am still not able to get a successful WHSConnector install. Using the Home Server Toolkit it says something about mismatched files, or file dates that do not match. What gives? How do I get at least one of these machines up and running? I have spent countless hours fiddling with this and am desperate to get my data available again. My EX470 ran great for years, but now I am in frustration city. Please help! I am not a computer expert, so use good simple descriptions please. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! kyler@oregonfast.net

Whs 2007 ??? I think you mean the whs V1 which is server 2003.

Your best be would be the ex490 but you will need the ex490 disks that came with it, Mainly the server recovery disk. X-510 disks will work as well, if you don't have them that would be a good start.

I would not try to hard on the 470, they are getting pretty old.
