I had my Mediasmart server for a year or so. I had all my data on it.... then my ex and I split up. With her complaining about taking the router, I just left it there. I'm now in a different country and I won't be getting the router my mediasmart server was configured with, ever. I've recently tried using the recovery disc and it's unable to detect a new router. I'm just trying to get alllll my pictures and data off of it. Then I'll wipe it and start fresh with a new OS. With not having access to the router it was initially configured with it, what are my options? Thanks.

The server setup by default has nothing to do with a router.
Unless you set a static ip in the server that does not match your new router it should just work.
Try connecting the server directly to your pc bypassing everything.
Make sure the cable is good.
re-boot both server and pc.
all you really need to do is install the connector on your pc.
Not a recovery, unless there is something wrong with the server.

You don't need a crossover cable.
If you pc works. then plug that cable into the server.

If all else fails, you can pull the drives and use a usb/sata dock or cables and access the drive directly grab your data.
Good luck
