My WinXP laptop just suddenly stopped doing it's nightly backup after working for many years. I have made no changes to the laptop hardware and the WHS v1 server is still backing up my Win7 desktop every night. I see the following errors in my event log of the WinXP machine:

System errors at the scheduled backup time (using Lights Out)
- The service "WHSConnector" may not have unregistered for device event notifications before it was stopped.

- The server {F48518D1-5FC3-42E4-B9B6-060D4B232022} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Application errors at the scheduled backup time
- The remote name could not be resolved: 'hpstorage' at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at MSSConnectorService.MSSLongPoller.Poll()

I tried reinstalling the Connector with no success. Do I need to uninstall the HP MediaSmart Server 3.0 Update 1 and the Connector and then reboot. Then install from the server then reboot?

* EDIT *
I am able to successfully backup manually.

Any other suggestions would be great.

Thanks

All I can say for sure is I would make sure you have the latest version of lights-out as I have had enough problems with it I don't use it anymore.
Manual Backing up is good!
It sounds like the auto backup is getting interrupted by lights-out (maybe?)
I have 1 xp laptop that I don't backup anymore most of the time, maybe once or twice a year but it sounds like it is losing communication for some reason.
Maybe a bad cable, maybe an update that has interfere with it waking to backup, trial and error, sorry I can't help more then that...
I uninstall both yes the update as well then reboot then reinstall with the web browser address http://yourservername:55000 enter....

Goodluck, maybe someone can offer more help.
