I've been running WHSV1PP3 for several years now on a Windows 7 machine with backup occurring on a regular basis. All of a sudden about 3 weeks ago the backup started to fail and upon investigation I was getting an error message that said "Windows Home Server protocol mismatch. This computer uses protocol version 6.0.3436.0, but partner computer SERVER uses protocol version 6.0.2423.0. A connection cannot be established." I've reloaded the connector software several time but to no avail. Not sure what to try next. Thoughts??

Here's someone with a similar problem: http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php/ ... connector/

The only difference is that it seems your server is running an older version of the connector than the client, instead of the other way around. However, you may still be able to get back up and running.

You can first try running updates on the WHS server itself, and make sure it gets everything it needs. Then, REBOOT the server. It's possible it has an update pending but it needs a reboot. If the protocol mismatch persists, then I would:

1. Uninstall the Connector from the client.
2. Reboot the client.
3. Install the Connector from the \\SERVER\Software share.

Your WHS box *should* be offering the same version of the Connector client that is running on itself.
