I've lost connectivity between my laptop and the mediasmart server. Left & Center lights on the server are solid aqua/blue, Right light on the server is flashing aqua/blue. Rebooting the laptop does not help. Powering the server off/on does not help. Powering the router off/on does not help. All other devices (printer, media players) on the network are accessible.

Error Msg reads: "This computer cannot connect to your home server. Check your network connection and make sure your home server is powered on.If your home server has recently restarted, try again in a few minutes."

A little more info needed.
what version of server(ex###) and what version of server software(whsv1?).
The flashing led colors are different per model number.

Do you see your server on the network map ?

Is the connector grayed out ?

Can you RDP into the server ?
Usually the 3rd flashing light us because you have not completed something that was started on the server. Like Server Recovery or other.

Server is not displayed on the network map.

Not sure what "the connector" is. I don't see anything with that label on the network map or on the Mediasmart Control Center.

I don't believe I have RDP capability. Regardless, I've never used RDP.

Typically a health light blinking Blue is an indicator the server has not finished its boot process. This could be caused by a bad or corrupt hard drive. Its hard to say which drive but most often it will be the system drive. Try booting the server with just the system drive connected, you will see tons of errors just ignore them its just WHS pinching a fit because of the disconnected storage pool drives.

If you still see the blinking blue health light then shut the server down, connect the System Drive to another computer which is easier to do externally using a docking station, USB-SATA Cable or external enclosure and simply run a CHKDSK on the drive

First of all, let me say THANKS to Ruben R, Diehard and Comp1962 for your thoughts and ideas to help me through this . . . THANKS

I'm still out of commission . . . I tried disconnected the back-up drive (btw, I only have 2 drives) and powering up with just the system drive attached. I still cannot connect to the server and have the same error msg; however, there is a change in the health lights. Instead of light #3 blinking blue, it is now solid white. The other 2 lights are solid blue. I'm off to get a USB-SATA cable to run CHKDSK on the system drive. Please advise if this solid white health light suggests another course of action . . . THANKS AGAIN !!

I looked in the EX485 Users Guide and the only mention of White is AquaWhite for the Health Light when the server is operating normally and after a recovery completes. I can find no mention of just solid White of course the colors lend themselves to much interpretation.
