I've done a database repair and all is working and the database check for consistency is successful. But the database cleanup stops with an error that it can't complete the task.

anyone got a solution or a work around? I really don't need all the back copies of the backups...could even start afresh but don't want my other data to be affected.

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried opening a backup for single-file restore to see if the database is good? You can use my BDBB Add-In to delete all the backups and start over.

I'll give that a try tomorrow to see if it works. I'm happy to try your approach to doing a manual backup database cleanup...refresh.

Will keep you posted on result.

The server successfully backed up again last night and I've done a restore on a single file that was successful. I again did a DB repair with success and the DB consistency check was successful. BUT...the cleanup continues to start and then stops with an error message that it cannot complete the task. No further details are given and a subsequent rechecking of the database shows it to be consistent and working.

There are four 1TB drives that all work perfectly with >2.3TB of free space, so the drives have plenty of room even with duplication in place.

Any further thoughts?

Thanks

Just a guess but it sounds like a corrupted backup table.
Possibly from a prior issue with the drives.
I can only say chance a server recovery (not reset). To clean it up.
A recovery will erase the backups as well as user accounts. But should preserve the data on the pool drives.
