I have a WHS on an EX495 from HP.
Sometime last summer it started having issues and I've been fighting (on and off) to get it recovered.
I've finally got through the initial steps and now I appear to be where it's configuring the server.
In the Windows Home Server Setup screen I'm getting an error which says :

An unknown error occurred.
The Windows Home Server Backup service may not be running. restart WHS, and then run this wizard again. If the problem persists, contact Product Support.

I have restarted the WHS and I get the same error.
Looking for some advice on what to try next. Any suggestions or requests for more info appreciated.

Just some additional info here...
Prior to throwing the error it says, " Configuring computer backup..." and the green bar looks to be 80-90% full.
I am able to reach the server with remote desktop logging in with administrator and the new password.

Well, I got past this issue.
For those who may run into it in the future, I had to do almost everything to start from the WHS Console on the server itself by remote desktopping into the server. I did all the updates then had to rebuild the backup DB. Ended up losing backups for 3 of my 5 pcs but that wasn't a HUGE deal for me.
Once I rebuilt the backup DB I was able to continue with the console configuration on the pc in question.
