I have win 7 machine as the main computer hooked up to this, also 2 vista machines, netgeer router for wifi. The server was working fine before but this morning the health light was red. It said that the backup was disable and I clicked the how do I fix this after I signed into the server and it told me to check updates which it is already updated, I restarted the server, that was no help,
I tried Repair the backup database, it starts to run but after a couple minutes it tells me that it has lost contact with the server. I am at a loss, I don't know what to do now? The 2 hard drives are showing they are healthy in the server. It just won't backup anything and all my computers are greyed out on the server window. I have not removed any drives or even moved anything.

Do I need to do a total restore??

Thanks for the help

Make a remote desktop connection to the server and check the Time and Date on the server to make certain it matches the time and date on the clients.

Have you made any changes to the name of the Workgroup on the clients because if they do not match with the server then the server may not see the clients.

The date is correct but now there is some kind of warning about a conflict in the music folder, I turned off duplication and that didn't help and the one folder within the music folder that had a conflict will not allow me to delete it and I can't turn it off either. I would gladly remove the music folder if I could to just get the thing running again. The music folder is showing that it is failing health but there is no way to check it??? The music that is there is nothing that we have on our computers either so I don't understand where it came from, I redid and allowed the duplication to see if it would work to remove it and the conflict says now that it is not in a correct state to perform action. The converted video folder was showing that it was failing but allowed me to remove it? I have never used these 2 folders actually, I have only used the backup service for my computers. The music is also showing some kind of porno file? and I do not do those kinds of things?
I can also access the files using the music link in the properties of it but the shared folders no longer works?
Thanks

Are you using the media collector on your server? You previously mentioned there are 3 computers on your network a Win 7 and 2 Vista. I would take a close look at each of the clients especially if you have teenagers who might be downloading content especially from peer to peer networks which I personally do not like.

For the time being you may want to turn off any media functions running on your server as one of those could be preventing you from deleting the folders. You could also run a virus scan on the folders from a client to see what if anything it might find.

OK, I decided to do a restore (The server was showing some corrupt files) and went through the process, it did a restore and rebooted the server itself but when it came to the final part to connect it to my computer it failed. I checked the connections and everything is plugged in, my computer is showing the lit icon so it can somewhat access it but not enough to make it functional. I tried logging into the server and I get a blank screen instead of showing the contents of the server. I don't know how to do a factory reset? I can't find any info on that. I have other backups of my information so I am not really worried about losing my info on the server at this point. I would like to get the server working though. The only other thing I know of is to maybe change the hard drive, I had seen someplace in my searches where someone had a similar problem and changed the hard drive, did a restore and it worked.
Does anyone have any ideas for this problem? Should I do a reset (how do I do it?) or change the hard drive?
Thanks

I have mentioned a few times in the forums about when I brought a fully functional EX470 to my GF's house and went to perform a Factory Recovery the system drive was not being nice to me. So I purchased a new drive and the Factory Recovery took place without issue.

Thing about recoveries is the drives really have to be in good working order for the recoveries to be successful.
