Trying to determine if I can/should perform a server recovery or if there's another possible solution. Here's my situation:

EX485 and I can't access the admin console or RDP to it. It's on the network, I can access and write to the shares and read most files - just can't perform any admin.

Admin console acts like it's logging in but eventually presents a "can't connect" message.
RDP accepts the login/password but goes to a splash-screen and never past that.

Some files won't open - appear to be corrupt but most are okay. Was suspicious that a drive was starting to fail but can't tell.

I have duplication enabled for the important stuff so if a drive is failing or has failed, hopefullly most data is okay.

All drive lights are blue (have drives in all four plus an external USB drive). The health indicator on the server and in my tray are red but the only message that pops up is that another PC on my network has out of date anti-virus. That other PC is no longer here. I don't know if there are other reasons for the red.

Read posts on this forum which steered me toward the server recovery and factory reset explantions and instructions on the wiki. Server recovery sounds like it might be what I want but, on the wiki, the instructions for both (reset and recovery) appear identical so I'm reluctant to attempt that without confirmation.

Any suggestions? In laymans terms, what I'd like to do is re-install the console software in a non-destructive manner. Can that be done? If so, how? If not, any other ideas?

I suspect a failing drive. Without gaining access to the Server Console it may be difficult to determine which drive is bad. You may have to connect the drives to your PC and use a tool like Windows SMART to see if any drives are reporting errors. Search will turn up more discussions on how to do this.
