The other day I was creating a folder on the server and it locked up when I went to save it.
Now when I boot it, the health lite sits and flashes (aqua blue only/ no red) and never finishes booting.
Any suggestions on problem/fix...thx.

Scott

I wish I could offer you more help, but this is why so many here recommend buying VGA/PS2/Serial Debug board for these headless servers. That way you can hook up a monitor, access bios, etc and see why and where the server is hanging. Without this it is a total guess and the process of elimination (testing hard drives for corruption, etc). It has saved my bacon numerous times, and is definitely worth the price many times over. Here is a link if you're interested:

Some searches on "health light blinking" will turn up troubleshooting discussions.

I would be pulling the drives out of the server and running a CHKDSK on them to see if one is causing a problem. WHS is sensitive to drive issues and it only takes one to cause the server to pinch a fit.

It only takes 1 power failure to cause hard drive corruption which makes having a UPS with properly configures shut down software the best defense for preventing hard drive corruption. However drives do act up sometimes with or without warning.

My personal favorite thing to do when working with hard drives is to connect them to a docking station or other external enclosure or cable to another computer and use WindowSMART2012 to provide me a snap shot of the actual drive health and to run CHKDSK /r to repair any issues a drive might have.

Running a CHKDSK is a time consuming process but one well worth doing just to rule out the drive issue factor.

There are other things which can cause booting failures but the most common one is the hard drive but a search of the forums will also help you find what others have found with their EX49x and what corrective action they took to resolve the issue.
