My HP Media Smart Home Server is an EX475
My PC is running Windows 7
My router is a BT Home Hub 2B [which 'says' it support UPnP but does not]
The WHS is connected to the router using ethernet as is the PC
With my previous router, everything worked fine.
I can access the WHS signing in via the consol
The remote access dialog tells me that my web page is not accessable on the internet
Windows Firewall is OFF - McAfee is fully active.

I now have a situation where Remote access is probably out of the question until I buy a better router which permits effective port forwarding [80,443,4125]

Previously, I could access Photo Webshare locally using https://xxxxserver/webshare
I now received a 'Internet Explorer cannot display the web page' message

1. Can anyone please suggest what might be going wrong or what I might have missed?
2. Is there any way of accessing the Web Share using a physical connection?

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

I'm surprised you can't access it via servername/Webshare. Have you tried putting in the server's IP address instead of name?

Yes, I tried the IP address with exactly the same result.
Have since carried out a 'recovery' and 118 updates later, the same problem rules.
I first purchased a cradle to access the disks to back up only to find that a recovery does not delete data!
It must be the router or a firewall, but I am about to throw the whole exercise out of the window.

If it worked on your old router and not now, then I'd believe that is the cause. A google search on "bt home hub 2b whs" turns up some discussions on how to get the port forwarding set up. You should also then test from outside the home.

Yes, I've looked at some of those posts but am still surprised that I cannot access Webshare via the local address which should not involve port forwarding.
