I am in the process of upgrading my PC so I want to move some of my pc parts over to my home server.

I want to take my 150GB Raptor drive and use it as the servers OS Drive. Then I want to add my 2 500GB drives to the server also.

Here is what I want to do let me know if this seems like it will work out.

- Pull the current drive in the server (only one drive there now)
- Set it aside with OS and data in tact in case adding the new system drive gets mess up I should be able to just put this one back in ???
- Only put the Raptor drive in and do a restore as to not lose any data on the old drive.
- Move all the data I want to save from the old 1.5tb system drive on to another drive on my PC
- Format that drive and then add it to the home server
- Format one 500GB drive and add that to my home server as a backup
- move the data i saved on my PC onto the 1.5 tb data drive on my home server.
- Format the 2nd 500GB drive (the one temporarily holding the data on my PC ) and add that to the home server as a backup

Would that process work or would i run into problems adding drive after the restore? I would basically be setting it back to factory with the new OS drive then adding drive and data afterward.

That process should work fine, and yes, you can always re-insert the old system drive and be right back where you were. Let us know how it works out.

I'd like to know if it works. I think your fans will be spinning up quite a bit as it has a TDP of 95W

Well my power supply died so i had to replace it. So i figured Id add the Q9450. Booted up just fine, seems to be idling around 40 deg. C
I guess time will tell. Fans at idle are at 1230 rpms. Trying to think of something to do to push the processor other than a benchmark.
