Hi all,
I have had my EX490 for over a year now, working fine. I have been using the MS domain service, have RDP and remote access working fine, running webserver, etc. all OK.

Last night, I was running into issues where my RDP session would lock up, and I couldn't manage the server. The server seemed to just lock up. After much frustration and many resets, I decided to do a server recovery. Everything went fine as per normal.

Last night, I was setting things back up again, and had my remote access working (according to the console). My domain wouldn't connect, with the windows live domain server 80000190 error. I presumed that windows live domain service wasn't working quite right.

This morning however, I still can't re-connect to my domain, but also my remote access is no longer working. I have checked all of my firewall settings, even disabled it. I have manually set up port forwarding, let the WHS try via UPnP and nothing will work. The Remote Access repair fails at "x Verifying that your remote Web site is available locally". I have tried everything I can possibly think of:

- firewall
- port forwarding
- checked that the router (linksys WAG200G) supports UPnP via the MS Internet Evaluation Tool (yes)
- installed the WHS Port Forward add-in, which reports that my router doens't support UPnP (Worked fine normally).
- I can access my webserver locally by going to //servername/. This directs to servername/HPhome/. I have another site on here, which works as well.
- I have installed WHS PHP and MySQL add-ins, but haven't done anything more with them
- Installed SABNZBD and Sickbeard, same as i had before with no issues.
[edit]: sorry I forgot, also used the WHS toolkit to track down any issues, and went through the whs_connect_tshoot.doc instructions, all firewall settings, etc. find from running this through...

I have had a bit of a look through the IIS manager and can't see anything wrong. Only difference I see is that I thought the webserver folder was /inetpub/www/ previously, but now it is /inetpub/wwwroot/.

I really have no idea and am really scratching my head now. Strange that it was working last night, and strange that it has been fine previously.

I wonder if something hasn't quite worked right throughout the server recovery/reinstall and I might need to go through the process again....

Sorry for all the information, but trying to cover what I have considered so far. If you can give me any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks all,
Jason

Issue might have resolved itself strangely.

Was doing some testing tonight. Had a TZO domain set up because the windows live is still not working. Got someone to test my server and I can access my websever externally, FTP server, and RDP. However, remote access (WHS login, remote access computers and files) won't work.

I just now tried the windows live domain for about the 30th time and it worked! Now, remote access is completing its validation, saying that it is now available and now, remote access pages work. Very strange. Is there some compatibility issue with TZO DDNS that doesn't exist with Windows live? I have never used TZO before only windows live so have never seen such an issue.

Anyway - seems to all be working now. I have had a look around and haven't yet found anything saying that TZO won't work with remote access, so unsure what the issue was.

Thanks for allowing me to waste anyone's time who read this :D
