Hello everyone,

I have an ex487 with stock hardware with an added 2gb seagate hard disk, with the stock software upgraded to power pack 3. Version info is 2.5.15.35297. I'm connecting to it wth a linksys wrt610n v1 router and a stock hp hdx x18-11808us laptop via standard ethernet.

here's some other info gathered on the server:

Windows Home Server Console: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Backup & Restore: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Drive Extender: 6.0.2423.0
Windows Home Server Remote Access: 6.0.3436.0
Windows Home Server Storage Manager: 6.0.3039.0

The issue I have unfortunately is with the sleep feature of the server. These days i have the server programmed to go to sleep during the evening around 10:30, then wake up at 7;00 on a daily basis. For some time this would work but eventually the server would stay up. I wouldn't be able to connect to it via the console or rdp. I believe there'd be times when I'd be able to ping it but that's it. The only solution would be for me to turn it off in the back and turn it back on. The 2 750gb hard disks are running ok, but now the newer 2 gig hard disk sometimes doesn't light up/show when booting. A reboot would help it come up again.

Is there any way of resolving this sleep/networking issue so that the server properly goes to sleep/awake and to be able to properly connect to it?

Install the Home Server SMART Add-In to see if your drives are reporting any issues.
