I'm at the end of my rope.

My 485 has been problematic since I got it, not liking to stay connected to my home network. I've decided to sell the unit, but when I tried to use recovery mode to reset the server, it is once again giving me grief.

Currently, it won't recognize the physical drive(s), and thus can't process a recovery.

Suggestions?

Is the connectivity something that would be fixed by upgrading the firmware of the server (to 3.0 or Vail or whatever)?

I have searched the forums for "no physical drives found" and haven't found anything that is exactly applicable.

I've tried doing the trick of pulling the drives, booting, and then re-inserting - it will go into recovery mode, but then recovery fails because there is no physical drive.
I've tried starting the drive "normally", without trying to get into recovery mode, nada.
I've tried getting into recovery mode the "old-fashioned" paper clip way without success.

Right now, no matter how I try to start the server it doesn't recognize the physical drive and I can't move forward.

I'll take any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

For those playing along at home, I've pulled the "main" drive, and replaced it with another 1TB drive - seems to be formatting now.
