I can no longer connect from any of the PCs on the network using the console. The icon in the system tray is green and will open. When I enter the password the reply is "This computer cannot connect to your home server. Check your network connection and make sure your home server is powered on. If your home server has recently restarted, try again in a few minutes."

I can RDC in and manage the server. Also I have mapped a number of drives on my PC that refer to folders on the server and they all work just fine. The backups are running as scheduled. It has to be something on the server since all the computers on the network have the same issue.

HP EX485

Any help is appreciated.

On one of the affected systems can you run C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\Discovery.exe?

Yes and I get:
"This operation can not be completed at this time.
Please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact Product Support."

A couple of things to check: -

Can you open the console on the server itself?
Can you check the client version on a pc and make sure it is the latest?
Any firewalls running on the clients, try disabling.

When I connect through RDC I can open the console.

The connector version on the PC is 6.0.3436.0 it has worked for 2 years until mid December and suddenly with no changes by me to either the server or the various PC connected the problem showed up.

When I turn the firewall of the icon turns to red and provides a notification from the server that the firewall is off on the client. But still I can not gain entry through the connector software.

A number of windows security updates took place on the server in mid December. My thought was to remove them and see but the add and remove process tells me they don't exist on the server even though they show up on the list.

It's worth seeing what updates went on, some users had similar issues after UR-2 was released. That was typically resolved by forcing the client to be re-applied which might be worth doing anyway

I don't see anything untoward in that list, do you see any errors in the server event log?
